As the Old Testament unfolds, from our first family’s fall to the exile and return of Israel to its promised land, the promise of God’s chosen Messiah has grown in glorious clarity. Now, God reveals the fulfillment of all these promises as the promised Seed is now raised up for us in humble flesh as Jesus, our Messiah. Read Matthew to discover how God reveals His glorious Messiah to you in the humility of His Son.

God first reveals Jesus as Messiah to Israel, so Matthew introduced Jesus to a Jewish, Law-observant audience. By learning of how Jesus came first to the family of His origins as the Son of David and the Son of Abraham, we can see how His long-promised mission as Messiah finally is fulfilled. For, Jesus Messiah is first sent to Israel but for the purpose to restore God’s blessings to all the nations of earth (Gen. 22:18). As the Son of God, Jesus as Messiah multiplies sons to build a royal house, a family for God and David (2 Sam. 7:11, 13) which would establish an eternal throne and Kingdom (16). For, the Son of God would be disciplined for sins (14) in order to make His people righteous (Jer. 23:5-6).

So, begin to read Matthew to see how Jesus Messiah calls you as a disciple to live in God’s household as a son of God, joining Jesus to build this House and ruling Kingdom!
